Bantam LL Continue Season - Melissa Wright
Submitted By Karen Sanders on Friday, January 9, 2015
Bantam Local League hockey slowed down a little in December. With the holidays just around the corner, the boys in black (or white) deserved a little R and R too!!
December 6, the boys in black took on the Strathroy Rocket team at the Gemini.
It was a game filled with lots of checking and goal scoring opportunities. However many times the puck hit the post or cross bar, it seemed to have a hard time finding the back of the net.
Our first goal came at 11:36 when Sheldon Michaud took off down the ice off a pass by WIll Ferguson and Sheldon dumps the puck past the goalie!!!
The second goal came in the third period when Cole Wright sent a pass across the ice to Austin Cable who tips it in the net.
The final score was 5 to 2 for the Strathroy Team....

December 7 the Eagles traveled to Mount was a tough game.

Penalties were the order of the day..on both sides. The boys played a hard fought game and did try their very best. But the resulting score was 6 for Mount Brydges and 1 for the Eagles. The lone goal coming at

11:20 of the third when Kelly Leyton zipped a pass across the ice to Cole Wright who sped down the ice, passing it to Kyle Kelley who knocked the puck between the pipes.

December 11 - the Eagles traveled to Point Edward to take on the mighty Blackhawks. The game was intense, the team was on fire. They came out onto the ice with determination in their eyes. However the lone goal was scored by Sheldon Michaud in the third. Our team fell 6 to 1.

December 28

John Henry Tournament

It was a great game against the Port Stanley Sailors. The boys were flying sporting black jerseys in the first game of the tournament. It was anyone's game as the score kept flipping back and forth. For every goal we scored they scored one to!  Our first goal came on a fantastic play by Carson Rombouts who passed the puck up to Will Ferguson who sent the puck flying up to Kyle Kelley who tossed it in the net.

The second goal  also came in the second when Kelly Leyton grabbed the puck away from the opponent and sent it across the ice in a beautiful saucer pass to Cole Wright who hustled down the ice and passed it off to Michael Cotton who popped the puck between the pipes.

The third goal in the third period came from the play makers of Kelly Leyton who passed the puck to Cole Wright who zinged it across to Will Ferguson who slammed the puck to the back of the net...WE ARE GOING INTO OVERTIME!!!

On  a lucky bounce the other team got the goal. 4 to 3 for the Sailors.

But the boys played hard and worked for it and did a great job.

Monday December 29

It was an intense filled hockey game against Lambton Shores Predators.

The game was tied 0 - 0 for most of the game. With the game winner being scored by Xander Fuko. Great Job Eagles....Keep up the good work.

Tuesday December 30

The boys took on the Ilderton Jets in the tournament for a place to go to the bronze medal game. Cole Wright shot the puck from the hash marks and sent the puck into the upper right corner. The goalie didn't even see it coming. Game was tied!!

The second goal was scored on a great play as Austin Cable passed the puck up to Cole Wright who skated down the ice with Carson Rombouts whom he passed the puck to and it was sent into the back of the net. Eagles lost 8 to 2. We'll get them next time.

Good Luck Eagles in 2015!!!
