Bantam Local League Opens Season on the Road

Welcome back to another year of exciting Eagles Hockey...this year the Bantam Local League Hockey opened their season with two games on the road. Saturday October 5, 2014 found our boys in black traveling to Forest to take on the mighty Lambton Shores Predator team. It was a game full of fun and pure hockey....right down to every little hit and goal!!! The boys in black were on fire as they came onto the ice. It was an evenly matched game right from the start and it was noticed that our boys were not going to take anything from anyone this go around. Our boys seemed to have grown over the summer, not just in height, but ability as well. The boys came to play and play they did...right from the first face off!!  Our first goal came in the second period at 10:02 as Michael Cotton poked the puck into the net on a pass from Ford Cran.  The Eagles were on the board and the excitement was contagious.  The third period started with a bang when at 14:19 Sheldon Michaud sped up centre ice and on a beauty of a pass from Austin Cable slammed one between the pipes - Eagles had two goals. The game started to get more intense as each minute passed. The boys were flying down the ice, checks were being thrown on both sides...then on a fast paced one time zinger of a shot, just when you think the puck is going in...it bounces off the pipes and back down the ice...NO GOAL!!! With redemption in mind and goal in sight....just off the face off, with a one timed shot...Cole Wright slams the puck past the goalie..EAGLES SCORE!!!! With blood pumping and the energy darn near electrifying the team gears up for the next rush. It is Kyle Kelley speeding down the ice with Carson Rombouts who passes the puck to Cole Wright who once again puts the puck past the goalie for his second goal of the night!!! Way to go Eagles.  The game ended with a 7 to 4 loss, but did those young men play hockey. They worked hard as a team, passed the puck and got it done right. It was an exciting and fun night to be there watching the opening game of the Bantam L.L Hockey team.  written by: Melissa Wright

Sunday Oct. 5  The boys in Black took their game once again on the road. This time they would take their game to the North Middlesex Stars (Parkhill) team. The boys were in a buoyant mood getting to the arena. The thrill of the new season still surging through their veins. These boys had come to the arena not only to play a great game of hockey...but to win. You could see the motivation of the team as they entered the rink...they skated with determination and purpose.  Jack Sanders, Goalie was on FIRE!! It seemed as though he was a brick wall and nothing was going to get through that night. The Stars came at him time and time again, but he watched and waited and he stopped the puck time and time again. There were times in the game it looked as though he was standing on his head to get the puck, but get the puck he did. He looked like an NHL superstar Goaltender with his determination and grace!! First star player of the game should go to Jack for his great game. He kept this team on track during the game.  Zach Fex was everywhere during the game. He played with such determination and speed. He seemed to be able to anticipate where the puck was going and who was going to get it, he passed the puck across ice with precision and was just an all around great player during the game.  Our scoring opened at 5:39 of the second period when Kyle Kelley passed the puck across to Carson Rombouts who sent it flying up to Michael Cotton who smashed the puck into the back of the net.  The second period ended with the Eagles down by one.  Third period action started with Carson Rombouts sailing down the ice passing the puck across to Austin Cable who just happened to be in the right place at the right time and sailed the puck into the back of the net. GAME TIED!!!  With 2:11 on the clock Michael Cotton begins the play by sending the puck to waiting Kyle Kelley who delivers a beautiful pass to Riley White who sends the puck flying past the goalie.

The game ended with a 3 - 3 tie, but what a game!!!!

Come out on Saturday October 11 to help the Bantam Eagles L. L.

celebrate their home opener at the BAICCC at 6 p.m. against the Lucan team !! See you there. Go Eagles Go!!!
