More Game Updates By Melissa Wright
Starting on Sunday November 2, which was Minor Hockey Day...the team hosted the South Huron Sabres. There was a positive vibe flowing through the building as the teams strode through the gates. The Sabres had won the first game they played against the Eagles, so there may have been some feelings that they did it once, they will do it again...however it was very evident by the way our boys flew over the ice during their warm up that that was not to be the case. The boys skated with determination and tenacity. They were looking for Redemption!!! At first it looked a little dicey if the boys could pull off a win..especially when the other team scored first and the period ended with them up by one goal.

The second period was ALL East Lambton. The scoring started at 6:18 with Cole Wright making a cross ice pass to Kyle Kelley who was in the perfect position to pound the puck in past the goalie. Finally the Eagles were on the board. That goal was soon accompanied by the next goal as Kelly Leyton zipped up centre ice with Will Ferguson..Kelly passed the puck to Will who slammed the puck into the back of the net!! The goalie looked like he was a little frazzled. Goal number 3 followed less then one minute later at 14:59 as Cole Wright passed the puck in a mad scramble around the net and Austin Cable picked it up and poked it in. That was how the 2nd period ended, Eagles up 3 to 1.
The third period was an intense one with aggressive checking, powerhouse shots and awesome teamwork with passing and working together. There was only one lone goal scored during the third it was a great pass by Austin Cable and picked up by Beau Leitch who made a beautiful shot and it was between the pipes. The Eagles won their first game of the season and Redemption was theirs!!!! Way to go Eagles. Jack Sanders played in net and he made some absolutely beautiful saves, especially the saves on the breakaways! He has become a very accomplished goalie. Way to Go!!!

November 8

The Bantam team hosted the Strathroy Rockets on Saturday November 8.
They were still riding their wave of winning their game the Sunday before. The atmosphere in the area was joyous and rowdy as the team took to the ice. The boys looked like they were having fun and determined to work hard and win that game. The game was a match of back and forth goals that had the crowd on the edge of their seats the whole game.
Opening scoring at 11:09 of the first period when Kyle Kelley passed over to Will Ferguson who shot hard with great accuracy and put that puck at the back of the net. At 8:24 on an almost identical play, with Kyle and Will, the second goal was scored...our Eagles were up by two...It looked like this could be a winning game, until the Rockets had two unanswered goals and our team deflated just a little bit.
However in the second they came back with a glimmer of frustration and a heap of determination. The first goal at 14:05 was on a pass from Beau Leitch to Xander Fuko who poked the puck in during a scramble around the net. It was Xander's first goal of the season!!!! Way to go!!! The next goal was scored when Sheldon Michaud picked up the puck in our end and skated up the ice until he met resistance from the other team then he passed it over to Cole Wright who skated up and took a shot which was deflected into the net by Dustin Verhoeven...Way to Go Dusty...it was his first goal of the season too!!! Whoo Hoot!!!! Goal number three was awarded as Kelly Leyton zipped up the ice, passing off to Cole Wright who helped set it up for Austin Cable who popped the puck just past the goalie. The second period ended with the game tied.
It was an intense third period...the boys were playing a very aggressive game...but at 5:47 Will Ferguson took charge of the puck, skated right up to the blue line and passed over to Carson Rombouts who had the perfect opportunity to score and score he did!!! Eagles were once again, ahead. Not to be outdone by the Eagles the Rockets scored another goal and it was looking like it was going to be a tie, when out of the blue with a shot that was hard, fast and deadly accurate comes Will Ferguson on a pass for Riley White. Will just zinged the puck past the goalie...personally I don't think he saw it, it was going too fast. Will gets a hat trick...his first of the season and WINS THE GAME! WAY TO GO EAGLES!!!!

November 9
The Eagles took their game on the road as they visited the Cougar Dome in Mount Brydges on Sunday November 9. Still riding high on the euphoria of winning two games in a row, the team entered the arena wearing smiles and air of authority surrounded them. They knew they could win this game. Right from the get go the game was plagued with penalties, on both teams. It was a rough going. We opened our scoring with Michael Cotton taking the puck and skating down the side and passing brilliantly to Carson Rombouts who slammed the puck past the goalie and landed in the netting behind him. One of the most memorable moments of the game was when Will Ferguson took a shot...and it was a hard shot, it slammed right into the goalie's breadbasket and the goalie almost looked stricken by the intensity of the shot. He fell right into the net and sat there for a minute...of course the puck trickled out in front of the blue line...so no goal, but that goalie will likely remember that shot for a day or two!!! Our second goal came at 6:04 of the second on an unassisted shot that was perfectly placed by Beau Leitch!! Way to go Eagles. They lost that game 3-2, but with the amount of penalties and rough play it was amazing it was only lost by one. They could have won, they have the talent and the know how. Jack Sanders, again, was stellar in net, practically standing on his head one minute and then bouncing up to catch a flying puck on his glove side. What a superior goalie Jack has become. Keep up the Good Work!!!
These two team will meet again on Friday Night in Alvinston at 8 p.m. so come on out to support your local league team and watch them take care of business!!!! Go Get'em Eagles!!!!
