PLAYOFF ACTION BEGINS!!
The East Lambton Eagles Novice LL2 team opened their playoff series February 7th as they hosted the Lambeth Lancers 2 team at Watford Arena!

The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead, when Carson "Wheels" Cumming let a shot go that found it's way into the Lambeth net at 2:07 of the first period! Alex "Bulldog" Nemcek picked up the assist! The Eagles made it 2-0 when Kaden "Black Shadow" Smith took control of the puck and lifted a back-hander into the top of the cage, unassisted!
It was looking like the Eagles might cruise to victory, but halfway into the second period, the Lancers began to claw their way back! They managed to score two goals inside of a minute, one on the powerplay, to knot the game up at 2's!

Battling hard in the 3rd period, 11 scoreless minutes ticked by. With 3:36 left in the game, Lambeth scored on the powerplay again and took a 3-2 lead! Needing something special to salvage the game for the Eagles, it was Alex Nemcek who took the puck for a skate! He took the rubber the length of the ice and shot it past the Lambeth goaltender to tie the game at 3 goals apiece with 2:06 to go!

That's the way it ended for the Eagles! They were down a defenseman today and relied heavily on Briley "Smiley" Cole, Jack "BlackJack" Stewart and Alex "Bulldog" Nemcek to take care of the defensive duties! Alex had a whale of a game as he picked up a goal, an assist, a penalty and lots of blocked shots in the contest!
(Let's try not to get the penalty next time, Alex!)

Wyatt "The Wall" Grover had another great outing between the pipes as he turned away 19 of the 22 shots he faced! (That's just like 86 out of 100 Wyatt, so be proud!)

There was a lot of great effort out there today, Isaac "The Surgeon" Goss had his Rocket-skates on, Gordon "The Grinch" Bressette was all over the puck, like a magnet, Mikey "Shotgun" George did a great job in front of the net and almost scored!  There were too many positives to list them all! We do have to be a bit careful not to get those penalties though! 2 of Lambeth's 3 goals came when we had someone sitting in the penalty box, we need all of our Eagles on the ice!

Both East Lambton and Lambeth picked up a point in this 6-point series! They will be back in action tomorrow (Feb.8) as the Eagles travel to Lambeth for game 2 at 3:30pm! Let's go get 'em kids!

Go Eagles Go!!
