EAGLES ADVANCE TO LEAGUE FINALS!
The Novice LL 2 team travelled back to Lambeth on Sunday February 15th looking to punch their ticket to the League Finals!
After spending the morning wondering if Highway 402 would ever re-open, Mother Nature and the road crews cleared the way for a convoy of hungry Eagles to make the trip to Lambeth! Needing a win or a tie to advance to the finals, everyone was very excited for the game!
The Eagles came out flying! William "Robin" Janicek got the scoring started about three minutes into the game! (7:13) He added another at 5:49, setting the tone of the game early! Both goals unassisted. With 25 seconds remaining in the first period, "Robin's" brother, Cole "Batman" Janicek, got in on the action when he scored to make it 3-0! Carson "Wheels" Cumming added a fourth goal when he converted on a breakaway with 0.1 seconds on the clock to end the period! 4-0 Eagles after 1!
The Lancers were able to get one back at 4:58 of the second when "The kid with the green stick" found some space and fired an absolute lazer off the cross bar, bar-down and into the net! A beauty of a goal, that would have been tough for Carey Price to stop! Will Janicek responded at 3:35 when he answered quickly with a goal, securing his hat-trick! One minute later, Kaden "Black Shadow" Smith got in on the scoring when he found the back of the Lancer's net at 2:35! 6-1 Eagles after 2.
At 10:04 of the 3rd period, Carson Cumming picked up his second goal of the game, whilst Mikey "Shotgun" George's determination paid off and earned him an assist! With 5:44 left to play, William Janicek put the icing on the cake when he scored his 4th goal of the game just over the Lancers goalie and just under the cross-bar! At the final buzzer it was another huge win for the Eagles, 8-1!
Wyatt "The Wall" Grover stopped 7 of the 8 shots he faced, and looked sharp in the process!
I can't say enough about how well this group of kids has played during this series! Everyone contributed today and the team seems to be on a real roll! The defense has been top-notch, Wyatt "The Wall" Grover is still turning away shot after shot and there just seems to be a bit bigger fire burning under everyone on the team!
With the win today, The Eagles advance to their league final, where they will faceoff against the winner of the series being played between Strathroy Jr. Rockets Red and Lambeth Lancers 1!

Because we will have a bit of a break before the next playoff round starts, we will try to line up an exhibition game or two to stay sharp! The Mooretown AE team that was playing after us today expressed interest in lining up a game so we may set up something with them. See you soon! Go Eagles!
