EAGLES PICK UP A WIN AND A TIE!
The Novice LL 2 Eagles hosted Strathroy Jr.Rockets Black on Sunday January 4th in Alvinston.
In their first game back to league action following the Christmas break, the Eagles were looking to get back to their winning ways as they played host to Strathroy Black! The Eagles got off to a bit of a rough start , as Strathroy got on the board just one minute into the contest! Isaac "The Surgeon" Goss tied things up 1-1 a little over a minute later! Kaden "Black Shadow" Smith picked up the assist on the play! In a hard fought game, both teams had great difficulty producing goals. Another fine defensive effort by Briley Cole, Alex Nemcek, Jack Stewart and Ryan Stevens in front of the solid play of Wyatt "The Wall" Grover kept Strathroy off the scoreboard for the rest of the game! With 2:31 left in what was looking to surely be another tie game for the Eagles, it was Kaden "Black Shadow" Smith who stepped up and delivered the game winning goal with assists going to Cole "Batman" Janicek and Will "Robin" Janicek! Another win for a really hardworking flock of Eagles!

Saturday January 10th is a date we've all had marked on our calendars all year long! The Eagles hosted the East Lambton Novice 1 team in Watford! On this day, tensions seemed a touch higher than usual as the kids were gearing up to do battle with their friends! Even looking at the coaches and some of the parents' faces you could tell, no one wanted to lose this game, with schoolyard bragging rights on the line!
As the first period began, it was eveident really quick that we were going to be treated to a great game of hard-fought hockey! East Lambton 1 pressed hard, but again our defensive corps played well positionally to keep them off the scoreboard in the first period! Playing without the services of Jack "Blackjack" Stewart today on defense, Will "Robin" Janicek answered the call to fill in off and on to help the group catch a much needed breath along the way! Wyatt "The Wall" Grover looked sharp out there again today! With 1:45 left to go in the opening frame, Carson "Wheels" Cumming charged toward the net after taking the pass from Will "Robin" Janicek to put Eagles 2 up 1-0!
There was no scoring to report in the second period as the teams were very evenly matched and no one could seem to buy a goal! It was still 1-0 for the Eagles 2 after 2 periods of play!
The first 5 minutes of the third continued to be a scoreless affair, "TheWall" was making big stops and the defense continued to limit the chances Eagles 1 could throw at our net! But at 10:26, the Eagles 1 team tied up the game, when #7 was able to slip a backhander past our goalie!
Hardwork continued at both ends of the ice! Everyone worked and worked and worked out there! As the final buzzer blew on this one, both sets of Eagles came out winners! Final score 1-1!
Great job by both teams today! It was fun, and the schoolyard bragging rights can hold off.....for now! Go
