2020-2021 Season Start-Up Update
Parents/Guardians,

The start of the 2020-2021 season is just around the corner! We, as a board, continue to work together, in collaboration with our municipalities, to establish our ELMHA Return to Hockey Plan which meets the guidelines/requirements outlined by OMHA and our local health officials. Once complete, this document will be published on our ELMHA Website for our members to review. Please continue to watch the website over the next couple weeks as this information and ice times will start to appear.

Our updated projected start date is September 14, 2020, with the exception of U-7 (Initiation Program) players, which will begin two weeks later. As mentioned in our recent post, players will begin this season practicing in groups based on birth year. However, please be reminded that players are also part of a designated “hockey bubble” with the other players within their typical hockey categories – U-7 (IP), U-9 (Novice), U-11 (Atom), U-13 (Peewee), U-15 (Bantam), and U-18 (Midget). For example, all U-11 (atom) players are part of the same bubble. The 2011 born players will begin the season as a group for practice purposes, but players born in 2011 and 2012 can and will be mixed/reorganized as the season progresses.

Two members of the board have been designated to manage, organize and lead the development of each bubble. Parents can expect an email from these managers sometime this coming week with some additional details. These managers will be seeking additional parents to support as coaches and/or on-ice helpers.

Registration Details

All players must have the first two installments paid before September 30, 2020. The first installment was for $50. The second installment was set for half of the remaining balance. This amount varies based on the division of a player. The third and final installment will be postponed to a later date, so that we can remain flexible as the season unfolds. We hope to provide an update towards the end of October with regards to the final registration installment. Please note: Several families have elected to pay the full registration amount, and therefore ELMHA will continue to hold these second installment funds in trust, on your behalf.

Items to Review for Upcoming Ice times

Players should show up to the arena basically dressed so they need only to put helmets, gloves, skates on in the dressing room.  Players should be ready to go into arena 15 min before scheduled ice time.  At this point they will sign in and be asked a few COVID-19 symptom related screening questions.  They will then proceed directly to their assigned dressing room.    Parents are not allowed in the building at this point, unless they are part of the coaching staff for that practice.   The main arena entrance will be used to enter, and side doors will be used as exits.  This will be marked out in the arena, as well as directed by the coaching staff. Once their ice time is over, kids will need to undress quickly and exit the building.

Once again please check your email and the ELMHA website regularly to stay informed. Our Facebook account will also be sharing current information updates.
