Attention: Referees/Officials Needed
ELMHA, similar to many hockey associations across Ontario, is experiencing a shortage of adult (18 yrs+) referees available to officiate our home games. Currently, we are understaffed, resulting in our active officials taking on many more games than desired.
There is no better time to get involved than now, as ELMHA has voted to cover the registration fees (approx. value = $200) for all new referees that sign-up before the end of the 2019-2020 season. Reminder to coaches and parents: As we face this shortage of officials across the province we need to be mindful of our interactions with them. Each year we lose skilled officials that simply quit officiating due to the criticism and negative interactions they regularly experience.
