Atom Rep Wins International Silver Stick!
The East Lambton Eagles atom rep team won the International Silver Stick Atom “C” Championship this past weekend with a great team effort with some fantastic games. Game one saw the Eagles take on the Long Island Arrows on Friday morning in Watford.  The team came out flying with a strong effort all around and beat the Arrows by a score of 10-0.  The Eagles scored early and often and set the tone for the weekend with a strong offensive and defensive performance.

Game two had the Eagles in tough against the Wingham Ironmen on Friday afternoon in Forest.  Both teams battled hard and fought some great battles on both ends of the ice. A first period goal by the Eagles was the only score for either team as the Eagles held the Ironmen off and took a 1-0 win.

Game three was Saturday morning in Watford against a tough team from Bowling Green.  Each Team started out strong and there was a lot of end to end action early, but the Bowling Green Ice cats couldn’t handle the Eagles relentless attack as the Eagles kept the pressure on and won 7-0.

Game four was Saturday afternoon in Thedford against a determined Deep River Knights team.  Both teams played a physical game and battled hard all over the ice. The Eagles were able to net one goal in each period to secure a 3-0 win.  Again, the Eagles played a strong all around team game and kept Deep River off the scoresheet.

The finals saw the Eagles play the Wingham Ironmen again on Sunday morning in Forest.  The Eagles came out flying and quickly got up 3-0 at the end of the first period. A late goal in the second period allowed the Eagles to take a 4-0 lead into the dressing room for the flood before the third.  The Eagles kept up the attack and finished with an 8-1 win. Remarkably, over the course of the tournament the Eagles scored 29 goals for, and only allowed 1 goal against! After the celebration on the ice the team was awarded the Championship trophy, their championship pins, and each got to have a turn with the silver stick.

Special mention goes out to forwards Ryan Bork and Sammy Hayter, defense Hunter Mitchell, and goalie Tanner Wilson (who only let in 1 goal in 5 games!) who were all selected to the tournament all-star team. The coaches and parents could not be more proud of the effort put forth on the weekend and the kids deserve all the credit for a great team victory.
