Tryout Info
With our pre-tryout skill sessions almost wrapped, I wanted to provide some info on what to expect for U9-Rep tryouts, should you choose to participate.

  1. The tryout schedule is posted on our U9-Rep team calendar. If you wish to participate in the tryouts but are unable to make one or both of the first two (Thursday/Friday), please let me know ASAP.
  1. All U8 and U9 players are welcome and are guaranteed one tryout before any cuts are made. After the first tryout on Thursday night, we be narrowing down to a maximum of 16-20 skaters, and that list will be posted on the website later on Thursday evening. We’ll then be posting updates within 24 hours of each tryout after that. This is still to be confirmed by the ELMHA Board, but the final U9-Rep roster will likely be 10 skaters and a goalie, plus 2-4 AP skaters and 1 AP goalie from the LL team(s). Again, still TBC.
  1. The tryout sessions will look considerably different than the skill sessions. We’ll be doing a lot of competitive drills (i.e. 1:1, 2:2, puck battles, etc.) to go along with skills and scrimmaging.
  1. Most importantly, this might be the first tryout experience for a lot of these players, and it can be a difficult thing for some young players to fully understand and cope with. With that in mind, I’m fully committed to making tryouts a positive learning experience for each player/family who chooses to participate, whether they are selected for the Rep team or not. And in either case, our aim is for them to finish tryouts proud of the effort they put in, proud of what they learned and excited for the season.

If you have any questions about tryouts, please come see me after our final skill session tomorrow (Sunday, 2:00).

Best,

Neil
