Pee Wee White Bring Home Silver!
The Pee Wee LL White Team competed in the Ernie Clayton Memorial Tournament in Welland January 11-13!

The Eagles opened the tournament against Welland #2 and battled hard! They outworked their opponents in every aspect of the game and skated to a 5-1 win! In game two the Eagles faced off with Langton. This game was filled with great passing and a ton of scoring! The Eagles cruised to an 11-1 win! Game three was against the Aurora Tigers. The Tigers played their best game of the tournament and their goaltender was by far the star of the game but in the end they couldn't handle the Eagles of East Lambton who won the game by a score of 2-0. The win secured the Eagles first place in their pool and a spot in the semi-finals against the Walkerton Capitals on Sunday morning. The Eagles came to the rink ready to go and set the tone early. Some strong team play lifted the Eagles to  a 7-1 win and sent them to the championship game!

In the final game, the Eagles came out flying and jumped out to a 3-1 lead. As the game went on, the hometown Welland #1 team fought hard to make it 3-2, then 3-3, then 4-3 for Welland. The Eagles did not back down. They kept fighting and were able to tie the game up at 4 with only a few minutes left in the game! At the end of regulation nothing was settled and the championship was still anyone's to win. A five minute 4 on 4 overtime settled nothing. There were several chances to finish it at both ends of the rink but strong goal-tending for both teams slammed the door shut time and time again! This led to a 10 minute 3 on 3 overtime. Less than a minute into the second overtime, a Welland player managed to bank a shot from below the goal line off of the back of the East Lambton goalie and into the net! An incredible tournament run had come to an end for the Eagles! The loss ended a 13 game unbeaten streak for the Eagles that included 12 wins and a tie!

Although the gold was what we came for and it was certainly well within reach, these boys should be very proud of their silver medals! They played as a team and worked their butts off all weekend long! These fine young men represented East Lambton Minor Hockey as well as any team could have! They showed respect for their opponents despite the tough loss and made some great memories that they will carry forward with them throughout their hockey careers! The coaching staff is very proud of this team and we want to thank them for giving everyone a heck of a show this weekend!
