The Pee Wee
Girls made ELMHA proud this past weekend by capturing silver medals at the
Saugeen Shores Silver Stick Tournament!
In round
robin play, the girls defeated Mitchell 5-3, dominated Saugeen Shores 10-0 and
over powered Keene 7-2 placing them first in their pool. The offense was
shared by almost all the members of the team with goals from Kylie Bell,
Aaliyah Cole, Kendra Coleman, Paris Campbell, Elle Douglas, Haidyn Joy,
Savannah MacLeod, Jenna McLean and Mikayla Wilson. Goalie Zoe Fex was
steady between the pipes.
In semi-final action against Kincardine, the girls came out strong in the first period with a quick goal by Mikayla Wilson. But the opponents battled back to tie the game at one a piece. The score remained tied through regular play to force 4 on 4 sudden death overtime. Jenna McLean scored the winner on a shot from the point to advance to the finals.
The girls met up with a strong team from Chatsworth in championship play. Goalie Zoe Fex stopped a lot of rubber to give the girls a chance but they went down to defeat 4-0.
Congratulations to all the girls, coaching staff and parents on an excellent tournament! A great weekend was had both on and off the ice!
