Return to Play Protocols Updates

Thank you to all the volunteers – managers, coaches, trainers, on-ice helpers, screeners as well as the arena staff for their collective efforts towards a successful start of the season.  I would also like to extend appreciation for the players and parents for your efforts so far. The changes and rules we have had to follow due to COVID-19 are different but we seem to be having success with our start up. We also appreciate the feedback from our membership regarding our Return to Play protocols.

We know that the COVID-19 situation continues change. Just this morning the Ontario government has mandated a province-wide mask policy, which includes all indoor public areas, such as arenas. Therefore, screeners, coaches and players must now wear a mask inside the arena.  This includes all hallways and dressing rooms.  Once your helmet is on, your mask can be taken off for on ice activity. Our Return to Play document has been updated to include this update and now also includes guidance for players or adults experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Under the Parents tab we have also added a document from Transportation Canada outlining recommendations for traveling safely to and from the arena with players wearing their hockey gear.

Here are quick links to these documents:

Season Update – New Player Groupings starting October 5, 2020

This coming week, the ice in Alvinston will be opening up.  They are following very similar protocols at this point to Watford – participants can only enter 15 min before ice times, masks are required indoors, there will be screening at the door, social distancing, etc.  The main difference is they are going to alternate the use of the front and back doors of the facility as entrances.  So one hour will enter the back and exit the back door and the next hour will enter the front and exit the front.  This will prevent any crossover of groups.  They are going to have a sign on the front to let us know which group goes where.

We are very pleased to announce that most age groups will be given three ice times per week. We are also going to be reorganizing the players into new, tiered groupings, within their respective bubbles.  This tiering will reorganize each bubble into 2 groups (Black, White).  These groups will be set for the foreseeable future.  You should receive an email from a board member stating which group your child will be with, by the end of day on October 4, 2020.  The ice schedule will be up shortly, as well, to correspond with these new groupings.  Ex.  U9-Black,  U9-White, U11-Black, U11-White
